Osteopathy

A gentle manual therapy. We treat problems of the body with a hands-on treatment and expert advice.

Each person, condition and injury is unique so osteopathic treatments will vary from person to person.
Your osteopath will ask questions about your problem and symptoms.

They may also ask about your medical history, any medications you are taking, as well as factors that may not appear to be directly related to your problem.

Your osteopath will conduct a full osteopathic examination and if necessary, clinical tests, this may involve diagnostic, orthopedic or neurological tests, postural assessments and activities or exercises that will determine how best to manage your condition.
The examination may include passive and active movements, such as the osteopath lifting your arms or legs.

Osteopathy takes a holistic approach to treatment, so your practitioner will look at other parts of your body, as well as the area that is troubling you.

For example, if you have a sore knee, your osteopath may also look at your ankle, pelvis and back.

Osteopathy is a manual therapy, so hands-on treatment may include massage, stretching, repetitive movements, mobilisation and/or manipulation.

Most osteopathic treatments are gentle and should not cause undue discomfort. If your injuries do require hands-on treatment of painful and tender areas, your osteopath will exercise care to make you as comfortable as possible.

Your osteopath may also provide education and advice to help you manage your condition between appointments. This may include giving you exercises to do at home or work.

Osteopaths treat more than you think. They focus on how your skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulatory system, connective tissue and internal organs function as a whole body unit.

Acupuncture

Chinese Medicine is a holistic, complete and complex medicine, the original mind-body practice.

Chinese Medicine is a holistic, complete, and and complex medical system, the original functional medicine, validated by thousands of years of continuous clinical practice. In addition to providing relief from symptoms, Chinese Medicine focuses on getting to the root of a problem and restoring optimal function.

As the aim of Chinese Medicine is to boost health and restore optimal function of the whole body’s various systems, it has been used successfully for thousands of years to address a broad range of conditions – and the body of current research and clinical trials supporting Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine continues to develop exponentially as awareness of the power of this medicine expands across the globe.

The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) ideal considers unified organ function and smooth “qi” or “chi” flow throughout the body the key to health.

Acupuncture treatment at our West End clinic, in Brisbane, is based around your specific needs and is a preventative measure.

Treatment focuses on the stimulation of acupuncture points and meridians on specific areas of the body using sterilised pre-packaged needles, electric currents, moxibustion, cupping and Chinese remedial massage.

Physiotherapy

The goal of physiotherapy is to improve your function and quality of life.

At Next Level Health you will get hands-on Physiotherapy which often involves some massage, joint mobilisation and exercises to improve your daily life.

Physiotherapists treat physical pain of the body. You would see a physiotherapist if you were injured during sport or in daily life, suffering from pain, returning to activity after a period of inactivity, suffering from a condition that limits your ability to move well or work, or are struggling with disease or disability.

What are the benefits?

The goal of physiotherapy is to improve your function and quality of life.

Examples of what physiotherapy can treat include:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Neck and jaw pain
  • Back pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Hip, SIJ and Groin Pain
  • Knee pain, ACL, Meniscus
  • Foot and ankle pain

Does it hurt?

Some of the treatments can be strong so it is always best to keep communicating with your physiotherapist. You may feel sore on the areas that were treated (as if you have been to the gym) for a day or two after your treatment. This is because (like at the gym) your muscles are getting worked on.

Can I claim it on my health fund?

Most private health funds offer rebates for physiotherapy, depending if it is included in your level of cover.
